Mixology Moment: Coconut Lime Crush September 02, 2019 — Jeannette Wagner, CMP, CGMP Labor Day weekend reminds us the summer is coming to an end. If you want to keep that tropical island feeling just a bit longer, we have a cocktail that will help transport you back there. Tired of orange and grapefruit crushes – how about mixing it up with a coconut lime crush. Best part - this can be a cocktail or mocktail, and still be flavorful and delicious. Here is what you need for that last mini vacation. · 1/3 cup of cream of coconut (Coco Lopez Real Cream has been our favorite. Find it in the cocktail mixers aisle.) · 2 limes, juiced · 3 oz. vodka (Remove if making a mocktail.) · 2 oz. triple sec (Replace with a double splash of orange extract or orange vest, if making a mocktail.) · Sparkling water (San Pellegrino is what we prefer.) · Ice · Lime wedges, garnish · Shaved fresh coconut flakes, garnish Combine the cream of coconut, lime juice, vodka and triple sec (or orange extract/ orange vest ) in glass pitcher with sealed lid. Shake well. Fill glasses with ice and fill mixture 3/4 of the way. Top off glass with the sparkling water. Gently stir and note the foam bubble topping. Garnish with fresh coconut shavings and a thinly sliced lime wedge. Then serve, sit back and enjoy responsibly.
